As a network engineer, you have more educational tools at your fingertips than you think. This became evident to us recently as the editorial team at RSS feed reader site Feedspot published a list of the top 100 networking blogs and websites for network engineers. They based their selections on criteria such as quality and consistency of posts, Google search ranking, and influence/popularity on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

This blog is the work of a network engineer named Jeremy Stretch. It began as a repository for Cisco certification study notes in 2008, but quickly grew into a popular community web site. Cheat Sheets are a gem of this site.

ipSpace.net is a vendor-independent blog and web site focusing on scalable physical or virtual architectures, emerging internetworking technologies, and stable real-life solutions.

The Hacker News features the latest cyber security news and in-depth coverage of “current and future trends in Infosec and how they are shaping the cyber world.” Key areas of focus include data breaches, cyber attacks, vulnerabilities and malware. It claims 8 million monthly readers that include “leading security researchers, geeks, techies, business grads, CISOs, along with thousands of security professionals.”


An experienced cyber security expert, consultant and writer, Miessler takes a personal approach on his blog — greeting visitors with the words: “My name is Daniel Miessler… I explore the interesting and beautiful at the intersection of security, technology, and humans.” His offerings include curated newsletters, essays, podcasts and high-quality writing.

Elie Bursztein leads Google’s anti-abuse research, which helps protect users against Internet threats. Elie has contributed to applied-cryptography, machine learning for security, malware understanding, and web security; authoring over fifty research papers in the field for which he was awarded 5 best papers awards and multiple industry distinctions.
